The Goa Away from the Beaches tour is ideal for an out-of-the-ordinary vacation. Avoid the tried-and-true routes in favour of the unknown. The 5-day/4-night tour visits Goa’s off-the-beaten-path locations. Forget the beaches and throng of Goa, and instead discover the state’s best kept secrets. Stay in a former Portuguese mansion, explore virgin backwaters, villages, secret caves, lakes, and waterfalls. The food, adventures, and kind people will make this a memorable vacation. This unique tour can be tailored to your specific interests. Check out the entire itinerary for a unique, off-the-beaten-path trip in Goa.
Please keep in mind that this is just an example of a possible itinerary. We design vacations to meet your individual requirements. Please contact us if you require any changes so that we may build a holiday to your specific needs for an amazing India visit.
The Goa Away from the Beaches adventure begins with your arrival in Goa. If needed, a pickup from Goa's Panjim Airport or the Thivim station in North Goa can be arranged. To begin the offbeat excursion, take a local bus or taxi to Aldona Village in North Goa. They possess a lovely Goan-Portuguese house in the peaceful small village of Aldona, deep in the heart of North Goa. Hear the chirping birds' tunes and the harmonies of the quiet village's existence. Spend some time relaxing or getting to know your hosts. Discover how Goa has changed since the hippy period. Lie in a hammock, read, write, draw, paint, or do anything you like. The peaceful surroundings are a welcome respite from the turmoil of cities. Today, after resting, go for a walk or ride the in-house mountain bikes around Aldona. The moderate terrain provides several nice hiking trails. Mix with neighbours who are relaxing outside their homes and locals who are working in their rice farms. Discover their lives and hear their experiences. Enjoy the beauties that are far away.
The morning begins with the sounds of birds and village music. Prepare for a day excursion by eating breakfast. Day trips can be taken to Arvalem or Mapusa. Visit the rock-cut caverns and waterfalls in Arvalem. The rock-cut caves are thought to be Asia's oldest, but they are completely off the tourist trail. The breathtaking Arvalem waterfall is an excellent picnic location. Splash around in the clear water. Then, row a paddleboat into the tranquil Mayem Lake. You can also go to the town of Mapusa's favourite street market. The bargains are really appealing. Explore the charming town that is mostly frequented by tourists throughout the year.
Allow your hosts to offer you an intimate tour of their community in the late afternoon. They take you to the village church and cemetery, where you have some unusual encounters. The beautiful Aldona fort, abandoned Portuguese homes, and ancient bridges transport you to the colonial era. Your tour concludes with a traditional bakery in the hamlet. Fresh breads are prepared in a massive earthen oven, which you can watch and taste. One of my favourite recollections of unconventional Goa is the soft and fluffy delicacies. Return to the homestay for a peaceful night's sleep.
Goa never ceases to amaze. Prepare for something new today after a good breakfast. You're all set to visit Goa's backwaters today. Rivers, lagoons, lakes, and the sea have produced one of the most stunning eco-systems, and what's more, relatively few people are aware of it. Unlike its popular counterpart, the backwaters of Kerala, there are no houseboats or commercialization, only an infinite stretch of peace. Prepare to explore by boarding a kayak. There are little coves, mangroves, small hamlets on the coastlines, and other natural wonders. Look for birds and wildlife; it's a wild world. Return to your accommodation in Aldona Village after watching the sunset.
Goa is experienced rather than visited. There are currently no firm plans. Make your own arrangements or simply unwind at your homestay. If you want to pack in more, you have plenty of possibilities. This 1.5-hour excursion allows you to take in the natural splendour. Pass through remote settlements and complex mangrove forests. The true joy is bird watching. Watch for eagles, kingfishers, peacocks, and other species you may have never seen before. If you're lucky, you might even see an Indian Mugger Crocodile.
You can speedboat into the Arabian Sea from October and March. It is possible to scout for dolphins throughout these months. It is a personalised experience of visiting the gentle beasts, as opposed to Dolphin charters. Go island hopping on a ferry for an alternative trip. Rent a bicycle or a car. Drive down the less-traveled river road via Pomburpa. The journey passes through beautiful countryside. Make pit stops at modest family-run Goan restaurants. Try Goan cuisine and urakh (feni's lesser-known cousin). The delectable flavour will tantalise your taste senses. You can also try your luck by gambling in the floating casino. Spend the night at parties, getting lost in the music and dancing. Celebrate life the Goan way.
Today is the final day of your journey. Enjoy a tasty platter before saying good-by to your guide. Get a ride to your airport or train station. Your tour is ended, but you carry a small piece of Goa with you in your hearts.
It is mandatory for all tourists (other than Nepal, Bhutanese) to obtain a Indian Visa before travelling to India. The Indian visa has to be processed via a government approved travel agency.
Next we will send you the visa confirmation code. You must carry a printed copy of the visa confirmation code and your flight tickets as these need to be produced at the check-in counter at Paro International Airport.

Things to keep in mind before selecting a destination
When a traveler's mind desires to visit the beaches, mountains, or a forest, there is nothing to say. However, understanding how to plan a trip successfully requires selecting the appropriate destination based on the season.
Find out when is the best time to visit each destination. The best time to visit beaches and mountains is usually different. When choosing a destination, keep the cost in mind. Some locations are more enjoyable to visit on a luxury budget than others. Going to a luxury destination during the shoulder season (a few weeks before or after the official 'busy season') can result in some good hotel and flight discounts.
People should prioritise traveller safety before embarking on their journey (especially solo female travelers).
Accessibility, or lack thereof, is another factor that can influence whether or not a person chooses to visit a particular location. To support the tourist influx, popular destinations generally have a large number of daily flights, trains, and good highway infrastructure.
