Greetings from Northeast India! As soon as you land at the Guwahati airport or railway station, your tour will start. You will be met by a representative from T3 and transported to your accommodation in Guwahati. Register and relax. Get dressed and enjoy a delicious lunch. Enjoy a sunset boat on the great Brahmaputra River at 4:30 in the evening. Enjoy the evening and then head back to the hotel for a relaxing night's sleep.
After a filling meal, leave the motel. You will travel along beautiful roads from Guwahati to Shillong today. Enjoy the two to three-hour drive. Visit Umiam Lake, one of India's biggest artificial lakes. See for yourself how the lake is surrounded by lush fields and hills, making it a picturesque location for photographers.
You will also go to the Don Bosco Museum to discover more about the customs, people, and culture of the area. When you arrive, check in at the hotel and take a break. Explore the Police Market as dusk falls and indulge your palate with regional foods. After that, return to the hotel for a sound night's sleep.
Wake up to stunning views of the Khasi Hills on the third day of your Assam Meghalaya tour, and then savour a sumptuous breakfast. Check out and go to Dawki from Shillong (2 to 3 hours). Dawki, one of India's most scenic locations, is well-known for its glistening Umngot River. Visit Mawlynnong after taking a country boat river ride. It is the cleanest village in Asia and a major tourist destination in India. Explore the green villages to see how people live there.
Drive from Mawlynnong to Cherrapunji after the tour (2 to 3 hours). Spend the night in a retreat in the wilderness.
Wake up in the 'second wettest place in the world' and have breakfast. Today will be an adventurous day as you will visit the Living Root Bridges and Double Decker Root Bridge. For this, cross the rivers through the hanging bridges, and after trekking for almost 3 hours, you will reach the root bridges.
Witness the unparalleled beauty of the Khasi Hills and click pictures here. They are handmade bridges by the local Khasi and Jaintia people. Also, you can take a dip in the cold water of the natural streams. After an amazing experience, return to the hotel and hop onto the bed for sound sleep.
Note: The trek to reach root bridges is not easy. It has around 3500 steps (one way) and thus, is not advised for people with joint issues, asthma, or arthritis problems. Pregnant women are also not advised to take this trek.
After breakfast, depart and continue your sightseeing. Explore the undiscovered region of Northeast India's Arwah Cave. Enjoy the tranquil sounds of nature while strolling along the jungle trail. Relax your mind while you breathe in the clean mountain air.
Drive to Shillong as usual. Stop along the way at a lookout to take in the breathtaking views of the Wahkaba Falls. Visit the Nohkalikai Waterfall and the Seven Sister Falls. When you go to Shillong, check in and stay a comfortable night there.
