A trip to the Northeast will feel like living a dream, as it is home to the Seven Sister States and has a unique range of attractions in every location. The Northeast has everything to make your trip exciting and memorable, from dense forests to ancient monasteries to snow-capped mountains to beautiful landscapes to breathtaking waterfalls. It is made up of eight states with fantastic tourist attractions: Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. To visit these amazing places, choose this 5-day Northeast itinerary, which will allow you to explore the Northeast while giving you enough time to spend at each location.
Here’s everything you need to know about your five days in northeast India. Your journey will begin in Assam, where you will visit the world-famous Kaziranga National Park. Following that, you will spend the rest of your time in Shillong, Cherrapunji, and Guwahati. Your trip to the Northeast will be nothing short of amazing, from sightseeing in Shillong to shopping in the streets of Guwahati.
Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, Shillong Peak, Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, and Kamakhya Temple are among the popular tourist attractions you will see. Whether you want an exciting trip or a relaxing trip, the Northeast has it all.
When you arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station, you will be met by a tour executive and driven (100 km, 4 hours) to the Scotland of the East, Shillong (4,900 ft).
You will pass by Umium Lake with Sylvan Hills in the background. This lake is the largest man-made water source in northeast India. Boating, water cycling, kayaking, scooting, and other adventurous activities are available at the lake.
When you arrive in Shillong, you will check into a hotel for the night.
After an early breakfast, you will be driven to Cherrapunjee. It's one of the wettest regions on the planet. Before returning to Shillong, you will visit the Mawsmai caverns and the Nohkalikai waterfalls.
On the route, stop at Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls for beautiful vistas. Stay in a Shillong hotel for the night.
After an early breakfast, we depart for Kaziranga National Park. After arriving at your location, you will be booked into a hotel. The rest of the day is free.
Stay in a Kaziranga hotel for the night.
Before returning to the hotel for breakfast, you will be taken on an elephant safari (for one hour) in the park. A morning Jeep safari (not included in the cost) over the park's Central Range is available.
Kaziranga National Park is the oldest heritage site in the state of Assam. On the banks of the Brahmaputra River, this park provides a natural habitat for biodiversity. The one-horned rhino, as well as countless other common and endangered species and birds, can be seen.
You will enjoy a local village tour and a tea garden visit in the evening (outer view). Stay in a hotel in Kaziranga for the night.
Note: The elephant ride and Jeep safari are subject to Forestry Department approval.
The hotel check-out procedure begins after breakfast. You'll be driven to Guwahati and dropped off at the airport or train station. This is the last stop on the journey.
The best time to vacation with your Kaziranga North East tour packages is from March to June, when the weather is favorable, making sightseeing and other excursions enjoyable for guests. During the summer months, the average temperature in the region ranges from 10 to 38 degrees Celsius.
You can plan a holiday in Kaziranga for four nights and five days, for example:
Day 1: Arrival in Kaziranga, followed by a Jeep safari
Day 2: Travel from Kaziranga to Shillong and go on an elephant safari.
Day 3: In Cherrapunji, visit Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Mawsmai Cave, and Arwah Cave.
Day 4: Visit Shillong Peak, Umiam Lake, and Elephant Falls
Day 5: Departure and visit to the Kamakhya Temple
Shillong's Bara Bazaar and Police Bazaar are good places to buy souvenirs. The government emporium is undoubtedly worth a visit.
Before entering the Kamakhya Temple, devotees are instructed to dress modestly. Both men and women should dress in Indian attire.
Jeep safari lasts two hours and elephant safari lasts one hour. Kaziranga National Park can be explored on two safaris each day.
The best time to visit Kaziranga National Park is from November to April. Avoid visiting Kaziranga during the rainy season since the park is flooded by the Brahmaputra River.
Kaziranga has four tourism zones: the central range, the western range, the eastern range, and the burapahar range. And each zone has its own unique reason to visit. All zones are suitable for seeing animals.
The distance between Kaziranga National Park and Guwahati by road is 193 kilometers.
Shillong's prominent and unique attractions include Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, Shillong Peak, Ward's Lake, and Shillong Golf Course.
Shillong's climate is normally mild and pleasant for the majority of the year. Summer temperatures in Meghalaya range from 15°C to 24°C, monsoon temperatures range from 12°C to 24°C, and winter temperatures range from 2°C to 16°C.
