Kohima is the capital of Nagaland, a state in northeastern India. It is the state’s second largest city, with a population of nearly 100,000 people. Kohima, formerly known as Kewhira, was established in 1878 as the British Empire’s headquarters for the then Naga Hills District of Assam Province.
