Overview

Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam) is a resort town in the Western Ghats mountains of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded as a British Raj summer resort and still has a working steam railway line. Stone House, a 19th-century residence, and the circa-1829 St. Stephen’s Church are also reminders of its colonial past. On the slopes of Doddabetta Peak, the 55-acre Government Botanical Garden is located.
