Overview

Lachung is a mountain village in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, close to the Tibetan border. The Lachung River separates it. The village is surrounded by apple orchards and is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery. Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary in Yumthang Valley protects many rhododendron species. Waterfalls, pine forests, and hot springs are also popular in the valley.
