Overview

Gokarna is a town in the Indian state of Karnataka on the Arabian Sea. It is a popular Hindu pilgrimage destination and is known for sacred sites such as the Mahabaleshwar Temple, which has a shrine dedicated to the deity Shiva. Koti Teertha is a nearby temple tank where devotees bathe in the holy waters. The town also has beaches, including palm-lined Gokarna in the centre, as well as Kudle and Om further south.
