Overview

Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh, a northern Indian state located in the Himalayan foothills. It was once the summer capital of British India and is still the terminus of the Kalka-Shimla Railway, which was completed in 1903. The handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specialising in wooden toys and crafts, are also well-known.
