Overview

Pahalgam is a hill station in Jammu and Kashmir, India’s northernmost state. Amarnath Cave Temple, a Hindu shrine and the site of the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, is reached via mountain trails to the northeast. Brown bears and musk deer can be found in the Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary. The Lidder River flows northeast through the beautiful Betaab Valley. Tulian Lake is surrounded by mountain peaks to the southeast and is frequently frozen.
