Chandragiri is a Tirupati suburb and neighbourhood in the Tirupati district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a major growing residential area in Tirupati and is part of the Tirupati urban agglomeration. It is the mandal headquarters of Tirupati revenue division’s Chandragiri mandal.
Chandragiri was the fourth capital of the Vijayanagar Empire and is best known for its historical fort, which was built in the 11th century, and the Raja and Rani Palaces that were housed within it. The fort was conquered by the Golkonda territory in 1646 and later came under Mysore rule.
